Who’s eligible for military benefits?
MAPS scholarships are available to qualified active duty reservists or veterans of the armed services. To apply, click here and then select Imagine America Military Award Program (MAP).
Veterans of the armed services, spouses and dependants of 100% disabled or deceased veterans may be eligible for the GI Bill. These benefits are paid directly to the student once enrollment is certified.
Disabled veterans may be eligible for Chapter 31 benefits which pay for the cost of the educational program. Additionally, a separate benefit may be paid directly to the student.
Students currently serving active duty in the Navy, Marines, or Reserves may be eligible for Tuition Assistance. This benefit pays up to $4500 per fiscal year toward your education. Students may also be able to receive GI Bill benefits as well. For more information and to print an application, (click here).

How do I apply?
Students may apply for military benefits online on the Veterans Administration website (click here)
Once an approval is received, please notify your financial aid administrator so that we may certify your enrollment with the Veteran’s Administration. Questions regarding your enrollment certification may be directed to Karissa Marcangeli at kmarcangeli@communitycarecollege.edu.

Who do I contact if the amount of my monthly payment is incorrect?
If you believe the amount of your payment is incorrect, you may want to first contact Karissa Marcangeli at kmarcangeli@communitycarecollege.edu to verify the number of enrollment hours reported to the VA.
If your schedule has changed and a correction needs to be submitted, we will be able to process that re-certification. If your scheduled hours were reported accurately, you will then need to contact the VA.
Other Important Reminders and Information
In order to ensure proper payment and to prevent delays on receiving your funds, it is very important that you notify us of any changes to your class schedule.
Students must verify monthly enrollment with the VA in order to receive their monthly payment. Typically, students can either call the VA at 1-877-823-2378 or verify online.
There are different versions of the Montgomery G.I. Bill for both active duty and reserves. Additionally, all of the active duty services, and many of the reserve services offer Tuition Assistance (TA) to help pay for college courses while in the military.
Military Spouse Tuition Assistance
Eligible military spouses are now able to receive up to $6,000 of tuition assistance that can help them pursue education, training, licenses, certificates and degrees leading to employment in in what the military calls “portable career fields.
GI Bill for the 21st Century
Congress has revamped the GI Bill for military members (including active duty, Reserves, and National Guard), who have at least 90 days of active duty service after September 11, 2001. The new program, commonly referred to as the “GI Bill for the 21st Century,” offers substantial increases in monthly education benefits.

Active Duty MGIB for Guard and Reservists
Guardsmen and reservists whose active duty time is extended past the normal 12-month call-up may be eligible for active duty-level benefits of the Montgomery GI Bill under certain circumstances. Reserve-component personnel are now eligible for the greater active-duty benefit when their active-duty time is extended to 24 or more months.

Half of all service members eligible for Montgomery GI Bill benefits regularly do not use them, according to Department of Veterans Affairs officials.
Guard and Reserve G.I. Bill
The Montgomery GI Bill – Selected Reserve (chapter 1606, of Title 10, U. S. Code) is an educational assistance program enacted by Congress to attract high quality men and women into the reserve branch of the Armed Forces. This program is for members of the Selected Reserve of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, and the Army and Air National Guard.
Montgomery GI Bill Overview
The Montgomery GI Bill (Active Duty) Program provides education benefits to individuals who enter active duty for the first time after 30 June 1985, and received an honorable discharge. Active duty includes full time National Guard duty performed after 29 November 1989.
National Guard Education Benefits
